Depending on which level you will have a range of weapons: Machine guns, Rocket launchers, Flame Lasers, Shotguns, Poison Sprays (for organic drones), Crossbows (for ancient times) and more. And all this set to a "kick ass" soundtrack. You are shielded by an armored levitation suit that can take 1 or 2 enemy strikes, but 3 strikes and you're out. That means back to the start of the level. Not all weapons will defeat all drones. You'll need to experiment with different combinations. Success on a level lets you enter the time / space portal to transport you to the next level. Be prepared for a number of surprises the Drone Lord has cooked up for you along the way.
